Role

James is Head of the Agency and Professional Services Departments at our Welwyn Garden City office and sits on the Management Committee for the firm.

James is responsible for the firm’s Professional Indemnity Insurance and is the Designated Complaints Handler in accordance with RICS requirements.

Background

James qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1984 having obtained a BSc in Urban Estate Surveying from Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham. In 2000, he was admitted as an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked in-house in the Estates Departments of Ladbrokes and Dewhurst and subsequently for Grimley & Son / Grimley JR Eve (now GVA) in London for 5 years.

In 1992, James took time out from ‘civvy street’ and completed a circumnavigation of the world by yacht with his brother. He joined Freeth Melhuish in 1996 and became an Equity Partner in 2004.

James is a Mentor at Alderham School in Elstree.
