Congratulations are extended to Tim Howlings from our Watford office, Tom Harker and David Thomson from our Welwyn Garden City office and Katy D’Souza from our Hemel office on passing their APC resulting in becoming fully fledged Chartered Surveyors and members of the RICS.
In addition to the four graduates who have recently passed, we also have two further graduates and one undergraduate surveyor who are currently studying for their APC.
To pass your APC and gain Chartered status, each candidate needs to complete relevant structured training/experience to show they are competent to carry out the work of a qualified Chartered Surveyor before they are eligible to sit the APC final assessment. This includes business skills and specialist professional skills. The competencies are defined at three levels of attainment and each APC pathway has its own specific combination of competencies that they must achieve at the appropriate level. Pathways include many fields, our three graduates chose Valuations and Commercial Property. Our graduates studied for 2 years before taking their final exam. During this time they were required to show they’ve understood and applied the required competencies through filling in their RICS log book, regular reviews with their APC supervisor and submitting a critical analysis essay prior to the final assessment. The final assessment then consists of a written submission and professional interview.
It is not to be underestimated the amount of work that is needed to pass the RICS professional qualifications and much dedicated time is required. Brasier Freeth are delighted to support and encourage the continuing personal development of staff in achieving their goals and, likewise, the success of our company is built on the expertise and professionalism of the people we employ.
We are on the lookout to recruit further Graduates for our Commercial Agency Team and Undergraduates to join our Building Surveying Team. If this sounds of interest to you, please email your CV to our Practice Manager, Kerry Starling.
