Over 60 partners and clients took part in a competitive afternoon of golf all hoping to win the highly coveted Brasier Freeth Golf Day Trophy at Batchworth Golf Club this week. Once again, the weather gods were smiling on us with warm sunshine persisting all day. The benign conditions and magnificently manicured fairways and greens helped strong scoring.

The range of abilities and skills on show led to some very impressive scores, with very close results. Congratulations are in order for Ian Brindley of Hempel Estates who won the Brasier Freeth trophy with 40 points on countback from Richard Malone of Hillier Hopkins. There were 8 players in the field close on their tail with scores of 36 points or more.

In the team event, the team led by BF’s Jack Woolf won the winner’s prize with 94 points. Jack was joined by Mark Spooner of Jelmac, Will Dalton of Gade Properties and Michael Avern of Harrowell & Atkins.

The runners up, who were not too far behind were BF’s Phil Walker’s team with 90 points. He was ably assisted by Ricky Sandhu of Devonshire Properties, Alistair Spooner of Jelmac and Mike Atkins of Harrowell & Atkins.

In the yellow ball competition, it was evident that not many teams managed to nurse their ball round. With a creditable 35 points, Jeremy Hunting’s team of Julian Payne of FFEI, Colin Gray of Colin Gray & Co and Mark Brassey of Child & Child won this competition. Julian Payne is rapidly becoming a yellow ball expert having been in the winning team for 2 years running and having contributed 14 points out of the 35 this year!

The longest drive was won by BF’s Stuart La Frenais which was circa 300 yards so well deserved and Nearest the Pin was won by John Woodhead of SA Law.

We would like to thank all our guests for joining us on an entertaining and enjoyable day. Special thanks to BF’s Rachel Jeffs, Kerry Starling and Anthony Appleby for all their hard work in organising the day and to Batchworth Park for once again hosting. We look forward to next year!
