On the 21st September the Brasier Freeth team once again had the pleasure of hosting a number of fellow professional firms for a 5-a-side Football Tournament at Powerleague in Bushey, in aid of The Hospice of St Francis, a charity providing care to people living with life-limiting illnesses in West Herts & South Bucks.
2016’s tournament was blessed with blazing sun and warm temperatures, however 2017’s event represented a different challenge for the competitors, with lashing rain throughout the afternoon. A slippery surface and cold conditions made for entertaining viewing as the group stages kicked off.
Group A proved to be the most hotly contested, producing both of this year’s finalists. After a gripping and competitive 4-3 encounter in the group stages, Clydesdale Bank and Lambert Smith Hampton navigated their way through the knockouts to once again do battle in the final.
As the finalists talked tactics and prepared for the big showdown, the rest of the competitors softened the blow of their early exits by jumping to the front of the queue for the BBQ and drinks, providing a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow professionals.
The final itself lived up to it’s billing as Lambert Smith Hampton claimed the spoils after a hard fought 2-1 victory to get their hands on the coveted Brasier Freeth 2017 Football Tournament Trophy. Their clinical finishing and solid defending throughout the tournament meant that they ran out worthy winners. Credit must go to Clydesdale Bank for pushing them all the way though!
